Harlem Renaissance with Swing for Kids

Swing for Kids is inviting students in the Chicagoland area to spend an afternoon engaging in the culture, music, and fun of the Harlem Renaissance. Registration is FREE for the first 60 children and open to children in grades 4, 5, or 6. REGISTER NOW!

The Harlem Renaissance was a cultural, social, and artistic explosion that took place in Harlem, New York, spanning the 1920s, 30s, and 40s. Participants will learn about the rich cultural history of the Harlem Renaissance through hands-on activities like vintage dance lessons, arts & crafts, cartoons and videos, retro snacks, and a costume photo booth!

Event details:

  • Children should be dropped off at 4435 N. Ravenswood no later than 1:00 p.m. and picked up at 3:45 p.m.
  • Parents are invited to attend a short final performance by participants at 3:45 p.m.
  • Light snacks will be provided.
  • More detailed information, directions, and check-in instructions will be sent prior to the event.
